The Pyrenees region is a true challenge for wine makers: clima is extreme and soils are poor. But when the wine maker is a perfectionist, as Raül Bobet is, results are amazing.
The altitude brings the opportunity to create fresher wines without giving up good maturation: Cold temperatures in winter, and a sharp contrast between day and night throughout the year, together with a huge variety of soils, are some of the secrets that make it possible to obtain high quality wines with great potential for ageing
At Ferrer Bobet we cultivate mainly old hillside vineyards over 70 years old, some of them centenarian, along with our own vineyards planted in 2004, all of Carignan and Grenache and all located near the village of Porrera.
These vineyards sit on exceptional llicorella soils with a landscape defined by steep slopes and enough altitude to ensure optimal ripening and an ideal day-night temperature variation, key to preserving aromas and acidity. Our soils are composed almost exclusively of broken slate, the famous llicorella, which only the finest sites of the Priorat lands have, and which play an essential roles in the inimitable personality of our wines.
